While surfing charts of different countries around the world this week I came across a very fascinating, as for me at least, fact. So I decided to share this funny story with you.
Let us see, who are the winners of sales and air-play charts in some accidentally chosen states.
The most air-played song in Brazil this week is "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston.
The winner in Argentina is Juanes with his last single "Me Enamora"
Plain White T's with "Hey There Delilah" tops Germany chart.
One Republic with Timbaland tu-whit tu-whooting the single "Apologise" with a 5th to the first move atop the chart of New Zealand.
Timbaland with "The Way I Are" overtaking Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" leads in the Australian chart.
"Kiss Kiss" by Chris Brown is the winner in the U.S.
Sugababes with "About You Now" are again peaking the U.K chart.
Finally, Santana featuring Chad Kroeger with "Into The Night" peak at the World adult chart.
And here comes the B'side of this week.
A great event was held in Munich yesterday night. Very expensive and therefore drag. An hour of walking around and having some interviews with the music stars like "Hi! Do you like Germany?", "Oh, yes. I always wanted to visit Germany, exactly Munich." It is so believable to hear.
And two more hours of sharing out the MTV Europe Music Awards.
What do we see in the list of winners? Some mistakes, as usual.
Rock out. Evanescence, 30 Seconds to Mars, Fall Out Boy and others nominated. 30 Seconds to Mars wins. Despite the fact that Evanescence was doubtless the most rotated rock-group this year in Europe. "Lithium" by Evanescence peaked in seven European Union countries, and only one single by 30 Seconds to Mars was released in Europe in 2007. Therefore I actually don't believe this result is fair.
Ultimate Urban goes to Rihanna. No objections here, her "Umbrella" really went from each flatiron.
Band. Linkin Park. Fine, if this is the choice of Europe, I'd like voluntarily to deport from this continent. And one more idea on this - why are all the 5 nominees the rock bands? And how much of it we watch on MTV?
Most Addictive Track. Avril Lavigne and her "Girlfriend". It is because she is the best :) Furtados "All Good Things" is also the same level. No idea, what is Amy with her "Rehab" doing in the list of the nominees.
Solo. Avril Lavigne, as I already has mentioned, just because she is the best.
Now back to the basics. We started with a brief summary of the winners of the charts this week. As you see no one of them coincide the winner of MTV running award.
This is a reason, why shows like this are loosing the popularity. People are not complete fools, they see when someone out of the top 10 gets the award, then someone from television supposes audience to be stupid. And someone like Snoop jocking as only he can see where is the fun are not able to compensate this failure.
See you later.

Worth listening October'2007
Kind regards on November 1. As yesterday it was the last day of October, when most people round the world celebrated Halloween, it is time to sup up the musical results of the previous month. And so I suggest drawing your attention on these ones.
1. Mika - Happy Ending
This is the last track from Mikas debut album "Life in cartoon motion" and the first song by Mika I recommend someone to listen ever. Song itself is so so, but the ending of it is grand! This is why as for me Happy Ending is the best song of October. The title of the song reminds me a song by Nelly Furtado, which was once extremely popular in Latvia - All Good Things (Come To An End). Funny, but it was also the last track in the album so the idea of its title was also a play on words.
2. Zemfira - Sunday
The second single form the just released album by legendary Russian singer Zemfira is much more energetic than the first one "We are broken", which is telling about love of between two people. Actually, the main idea of this concet appears in the video for this song, where some security man kills Zemfiras girlfriend. Zemfira advises not to go in cycle on this and listen to the "Sunday"
3. Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
While listening to the selection of the best hits "Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007" by Natalie Imbruglia with the new single "Glorious" included, I suddenly released, that nothing on this disc is better than the classics by Imburglia "Torn", so the third place of October is her. Frankly speaking, Natalie seems to copy her own "Torn" in her 2007 only new song, and she herself seems like if she stepped from the ancient 1998.
4. Dakota - Matches
A song with no video yet, but what a song. Dakota is a competitor of the Russian analogue of the "American Idol". Well, a young girl trying to perform as a drama queen, who used to love for hundred years, but then she was left alone.. When something like this dies away from a 20 year old (young) girl, it is a little bit funny.
5. Valeriya - Break It All
See the previous blog, which was mostly devoted to discuss Valeriya and her newest single.
6. Swollen Members feat. Nelly Furtado - Breathe
Admiring Furtado so much I can even accept those very unstylish members around her.
7. Nelly Fortado - Do It
Since the release of her previous album "Loose" on June 9, 2006, 17 months has passed, so because of deadlock fans of Furtado could try this.
8. BandEros - About a beautiful life
It is a parody on the real video by Russian r'n'b pioneers. Song is a bit silly, band is repeating "what a beautiful life" in English all the time and the name of their band, some kind of self promotion or something.
9. Santana feat. Chad Kroeger - Into The Night
No doubts - one of the best vocal part of Chad Kroeger, soloist of the Nickelback, since "How You Remind Me", the best song by Nickelback ever.
10. Potap feat. Nastya Kamnskih - Not pair
Well, just watch the video.
And again no one could smash Avril.
See you tomorrow.

Lesbian Russian export
Last week the entire RuNet or Russian Internet field as you wish was full of one and only topic on Russian music or, as it seems now, not so much Russian. Mostly, these topics in blogs and news headlines were like "Lesbian orgy, again" or "Renaissance of t.A.T.u. by a pensioner". Very strange, isn't it? Let us figure out, what actually is going on.
Valeriya, a broadly known Russian pop-singer, having a musician career from early 90's, when she appeared with her exceptional vocal abilities. She started as a singer of difficult, but therefor worth listening French sonatas and other classics. This could be the reason of her bright debut. After annulating her marriage with her previous husband and producer Alexander Shulgin, she quit music for very long three years. Mostly, musical critics were unanimous - she won't be able to climb to those highs she peaked once.
But they were wrong, as it usually happens, if you try to forecast the Russian music industry. It differs form the U.S. and Europe a lot. There you may take a look an graphics of concerts and the dates of album and singles release and more or less correctly prognosticate, who will be the chart peakers. But it is not possible in Russia, ever! If there is a long-expected album by an artist, who used to have a longer pause in creation of his great music, like Zemfira or Surganova, you may be up to 100% wrong if you suggest that it will be a sales gainer of the weekend. There is a huge probability that no one will even mention it. Meanwhile the free money of music lovers will go to some second-class r'n'b parody by a band no one knew just yesterday. Afterwards all the big Russian land will repeat the most thoughtful strophes from the lead songs of such albums, where the text are like "Columbia Pictures even can't imagine.." The most creative thing in this is hidden in play on words, as "imagine" in Russian means also "to present". So it is something like "Columbia Pictures doesn't present", meaning it can't fancy the Love between r'n'b maker in Russia and his girlfriend.
Well, back to Valeriya. Her present husband and again producer is fat as the himself declared global maestro Timbaland, so is very frequently called Shrek. Speaking about Timbaland, I can't accept his rule, that every song, where he rings out as an owl or something, and the song itself, either it is "Say It Right" by Nelly Furtado or "Apologize" by One Republic, is made by another vocals, not Timbalands. And he is shameless enough to write in the artist column "Timbaland featuring someone else". Shame on you, Timba!
And so, Shrek understands the non-predictability of the Russian music market we talked about some paragraphs before. As this market is a fast food of second-class clowns. So Shrek decided to make some money in the West. New project by Valeriya - an album in English - is their first step to conquer Europe, Asia, U.S. etc.
Not bad! The first single from the album is already available in the radio rotation, funny, but only Russian radio rotation. Shrek says - we work hard, but still there is no result of visiting all European radio stations in line.
And what do we have in the video clip for this song? You may take a look here
An Italian actor twisting around Valeriya in the first part of song, then there is a bridge and the final with a lesbian orgy by Valeriya and 4 naked or almost naked young, extremely young girls. Two aspects to mention about this video.
First of all, the bridge is caddish copy from a single by Russian superduet t.A.T.u. "Not Gonna Get Us" (watch here), which peaked most of European states charts and rised up to the 7 on Billboard Hot 100. All the drum and bass, energy of the electric guitare, even something from the wildness and unstoppable affect and infinite aggressively of two lesbian girls, who want to be alone, just with each other. In this context all the characteristics of the bridge are acceptable, logical and look very natural.
But not about Valeriyas video, where it underlines the difference in ages of young dancers and central singer. As it is quite stolen, the idea can't look good in the covered version. Valeriya, who is not a young girl anymore, shaking and trying to prove she is crazy in love - all this looks like @#$*&%^*! It looks like Valeriya confused the shooting pavilion when she came to make the video.
Secondly, the crowdness. What a brilliant idea is hidden in the lyrics like
And you think that you're really smart
And you think that you're strong enough
or
God, I tried to land on my feet
When I'm leaving you I stay on my knees
No comments on it!
Anyway, Valeriya is the best known Russian pop-singer.
And somehow Avril is better.
